MESA, AZ - A former LDS bishop was arrested on a class 3 felony count of allegedly luring a minor for sexual exploitation, according to Mesa police.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stated it has "zero tolerance" for any type of abuse.
"When the Church became aware of these charges, Coleman was released as a bishop to allow him to attend to legal proceedings," said church spokesman Eric Hawkins. "We are supportive of the efforts of authorities to ensure this situation is addressed appropriately."

Catholic priest sentenced to seven and one half years for sexual assault of 10 year old

A Catholic priest, the Rev. Robert “Bob” Poandl, who once worked at Holy Cross Church in Pembroke and in six other Georgia communities has been sentenced to seven and one half years in prison for transporting a 10-year-old Cincinnati boy to Spencer, W.Va., in August 1991 where he sexually assaulted the child.

Poandl worked in the Savannah diocese, including Holy Cross Church, from 2007-2009 and 2010-2012...

... David Clohessy of Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests said the sentencing doesn’t mean the book is closed on Poandl.

“Because Fr. Poandl was in ministry so long at so many places — as recently as 2012 — there could be even more recent victims,” said Clohessy. “So we think he might be charged elsewhere for more crimes. And we suspect that some of his church superiors or colleagues might be charged with crimes, too, like endangering kids, destroying evidence, obstructing justice, tampering with witnesses and the like.
“But first, others who saw, suspected or suffered these crimes or cover ups must step forward and call police.”
